สรุปการเผยแพร่ผลงานวิจัย- Discrimination of Contaminated Thai Jasmine Rice by Means of Electronic Nose

Due to the principle of multi-sensor function like the sense of human nose, an artificial olfactory technology called as electronic nose (e-nose) can rapidly evaluate the difference of the odors when the volatile molecules interact with the surface of sensing materials. Using an e-nose technology with a dynamic headspace system, contaminated Thai jasmine rice by Prathumthani fragrant rice with varying ratios were investigated in this work. The measurement system in this e-nose consists of seven commercial metal oxide gas sensors and sample/reference dynamic flow unit. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used as a pattern recognition technique. Optimum measurement parameters were considered for improving classification capability of the system. According to the results, the sensor responses can be related to the amount of aromatic compounds in the contaminated aromatic rice. One important compound causing of the unique aroma in the Thai jasmine rice is well known as 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline (2AP) compound; therefore, in this work we can imply that the contaminated Thai jasmine rice with the other is associated to the amount of the presented 2AP compound in the sample. In the future work, we are looking for a new set of sensing materials to fabricate a more selective gas sensor array, which can respond to the chemical compounds in aromatic rice. We expect that those sensors will improve the capability of the e-nose and can overcome metal oxide gas sensors in term of energy consumption.
