สรุปการเผยแพร่ผลงานวิจัย-A Zigbee-Based Wireless Wearable Electronic Nose Using Flexible Printed Sensor Array

A wearable electronic nose (e-nose) has been developed by integrating a low cost sensor array with a wireless communication for applications in the healthcare. A sensor array based on polymer/carbon nanotube (CNT) composites was designed and fabricated using inkjet printing technology. Polyethylene-naphthalate (PEN) film was chosen as substrate material due to its flexible property, smooth surface and heat stability. Furthermore, it could be considered as an important step to enable roll-to-roll processing to scale up the production for industrial applications.  The sensors based on different printing patterns and sensing materials (polymer/CNT composites) has shown response to a wide variety of complex odors. We have demonstrated the different volatile fingerprints of the sensor array by varying the analyte volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in a static system. Wireless communication based on ZigBee technology was integrated in the wearable e-nose and used to transfer the response signals of the sensor array to a personal computer in real time. As for healthcare applications, we applied the developed e-nose to monitor human body odor in the axillary region containing a high density of sweat glands and generating many various volatile compounds. The axillary sweat with airless area, as usually producing an unpleasant odor due to bacterial populations, might be used to indicate the health status. The prototype of this wearable e-nose was designed as a compact armband as appropriate for monitoring the axillary odor. The developed wearable e-nose based on using principal component analysis (PCA) as pattern recognition technique was demonstrated to be a promising device for detection of human body odor.
